This is a super lightweight virtual table top that has been a game changer for running online. Easy to learn, nothing to install, no registration for anybody.
WOTC Official Character Sheets
You can download the official Wizards of the Coast D&D Character sheets here. The archive has form fillable and print optimized versions plus an alternate layout if that's your thing.
Class Specific Character Sheets
Each of these character sheets has been modified for a specific class. These are not free but worth the cost if you like to play specific classes a lot, or if you're starting a game with any players new to the game.
Current Standard v1.4
This sheet is a variation based on the official WOTC design. The tweaks on this are really great and is definitely an improvement on the original.
Artistic Character Sheets
This sheet has a somewhat cartoony style that may appeal to folks who want a bit more theme on their sheets.
WOTC Official Pre-generated PCs
WOTC has pre-generated characters for a variety of race/class combos from level 1 to 10.
Digital Dungeon Master
This site has an obscene amount of pregens for all classes. You can even pick your subclass. Levels from 1 all the way to 20.
NPC Generator
This site generates NPCs with a single click. It includes stats, a description, traits, a plot hook and more. You can pick from a handful of options if you want specific race/sex etc.
RPGtinker
This generator requires you to select a few options, but it also produces very detailed NPCs.
Who the F*** is my D&D Character?
Although a little NSFW, this barebones generator provides a great starting point for character or NPC creation.
Combat Cheat Sheet
This is a great flowchart style guide that clarifies how combat works, great for new players!
Cheat Sheet by Doomcross
This is a very handy two sided cheat sheet, mainly for players. It is colour coded and everything!
Inkarnate
This is an online map-making tool. There is a free and a paid version, both are great for making outdoor maps of anything from continents to villages.
Dungeon Fog
Another online map maker, this one is great for maps at a smaller scale, like dungeons etc.
Medieval Fantasy City Generator
Awesome random city map generator, you can take them as they are or export them and edit them into something more.
Cartographers' Guild
A huge repository of professional and amateur made maps of all sorts, from real cities and towns, to fantasy countries and worlds.
Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator
If you want to generate a random map with complicated interlacing ethnicities and national borders, this is the tool for you. You can customize it completely, or just tweak a couple of variables and let it do it's thing.
D&D Beyond
The best tool for creating and managing characters, looking up rules and finding monsters and their stats. The Basic Rules are available for free, and the rest of the official material is on there to buy often with good discount codes easily found online.
Behind the Screen
The subreddit made for DMs to post questions, answers, and all sorts of tips and tricks for people to use.
Dungeon Masters Guild
The best place online to buy old and new adventures, some you can even find for free. Also has resources to help you publish your own material on the site.
One Note
This is a free app for both Windows and Mac. Hands-down one of the best ways to organize campaign notes. It can function as an incredible DM Screen, an encounter tracker, or world building notebook.
Kobold Fight Club
This site will help you with the math of building encounters for your players. Just punch in the number of players at various levels and pick out monsters, or just hit Random.
3d Dice Roller
When you don't want to slow your game down looking for 10 d8's to disintegrate a character.
Weak Magic Items for 5e
D&D 5e doesn't give out a ton of magic items, and it can leave you feeling boring, when every encounter just hands out pouches of 15 gold to your players. This sight gives you magic items you can give out that are fun but won't break your game, like an axe that can turn into 50 feet of rope.
